William Coleman

William Clayton Coleman, 45, of Elkhorn City, was born Feb. 18, 1979, in Pikeville, and died Friday, Aug. 9, 2024, at his residence.

He was a member of the Russell Fork Fish and Game Club. He attended Penny Road Community Church. He was known as one of NASCAR's biggest fans and loved to watch professional bull-riding.

Will was the son of the late Clayton and Vivian Blackburn Coleman, of Yellow Hill.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Melissa Coleman Stiltner; grandparents, Bobby Gene, Laura Blackburn and Bill and Mary Coleman. Also preceding him in death were his uncles, B.L. Blackburn, Bobby Dean Blackburn, Bill (Fuzz) Coleman and Blake Coleman; his aunts, Rita DeWerff, Eileen Bostic, Esta (Migg) Sword and Dottie Coleman.

Will is survived by his brother-in-law, Christopher Todd Stiltner; his second mother, Betty Potter Stiltner; his uncles, Gary DeWerff, Dwight Bostic and John Leslie; his aunts, Loretta Leslie (John), Nellie Jea Blair and Brenda Mattingly. He also leaves behind a host of family, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.

He will be missed by the entire community.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 16, in the Bailey Funeral Home chapel.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Inc., of Elkhorn City.

Charles Collins

Charles T. Collins, 85, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2024, at his daughter's home in Lexington.

He was born on Feb. 9, 1939, the son of the late Thomas Collins and Hazel Slone Collins. He was the husband of the late Mary Sue Compton Collins, a heavy equipment operator for construction companies and a believer of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by one daughter, Patsy Ann Collins; two brothers, Steven Collins and Ruey Collins; two sisters, Sharon Penny Adkins and Jewel Allen; and a host of loving family and friends.

The family had a private memorial.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.

Ruth Crum

Ruth Williams Crum, 64, of Poor Bottom Road, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2024, at her residence.

She was born on June 3, 1960, the daughter of the late Theodore Williams and Juanita Coleman Williams.

She was the wife of Kennie Crum, a retired deputy jailor for Pike County Detention Center and a believer of the Christian faith.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Matthew Crum; one daughter, Kendra Adkins (Joseph); one brother, Ted Williams; two sisters, Thearose Bryant and Donna Bevins; one grandchild, Kyler Adkins; and a host of loving family and friends.

Memorial services were held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 15, with Terry Gibson officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.

“Jerri” Osborne

Geraldine Jerri Osborne, 77, of Virgie, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024, at Pikeville Medical Center.

She was born on Oct. 11, 1946, to the late Charles Morley Jr. and Imal Howard Morley.

She was a member of the Shelby Valley Church of Christ and a retired teacher, having taught at Virgie Middle School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley James Osborne; two brothers, Charles S. Morley and Dudley Ray Morley; and one uncle, William Eldridge Howard.

She is survived by one son, Josh Osborne (Toni), of Hendersonville, Tenn.; one daughter, Stephanie Osborne, of Virgie; one brother, Michael Morley (Madonna), of Meta; one sister, Elizabeth Doggett, of Twin Falls, Idaho; and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Shelby Valley Church of Christ with Greg Johnson and others officiating. Burial will follow at the Osborne Family Cemetery, Anderson Fork.

Visitation will continue on Friday, Aug. 16, at the church, with services beginning at 7 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.

Anna Prater

Anna Mae “Adkins” Prater, 89, of Pikeville, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2024.

She was born in Logan, W.Va., Aug. 19, 1934, to the late Mark Adkins and Opal “Spears” Adkins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her dear husband, Harry Thomas Prater; sons, Tommy L. Prater, Bobby Dean Prater and Carl Casby Prater; grandchildren, Warren Thomas Prater and Opal Prater; sisters, Frankie Rose and Velva Robinson; and brothers, Aisel Adkins and Avery Adkins.

Anna is survived by daughters-in-law, Anna Tammy Prater and Dottie Prater; great-grandchildren, Chadwick Scott and Carl Justin King; great-great-grandchildren, Dean Prater, Jasmine Prater and Ramsey Ellis; along with a host of loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 16, at the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home. There will be special singing by Rhonda Mullins and the eulogy will be read by Chadwick Scott. Entombment will follow at Annie E. Young Cemetery.

Terry Williams

Terry Williams, 62, of Mouthcard, was born in Grundy, Va., on June 11, 1962, and died on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, at Baptist Health Corbin in Corbin.

He was the son of Hansel and Marilyn Blair Williams, who preceded him in death.

Terry was a superintendent of a company in the mining industry.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Sue Shortridge Williams; sons, Dr. Curtis Williams (Lindsey), of Corbin, and Dr. Cody Williams (Robyn), of Ashland; sisters, Linda Baker, of Lexington, Betty Mayou, of Tucson, Ariz., Debbie Ratliff, of Belcher, and Virginia Ancona, of Cincinnati, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Lainey Paige, Walker Anthony, Cade Austin, Trae Andrew and Graham Tate.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Bailey Funeral Home chapel with Steve Cantrell officiating. Burial followed at the Mountain Valley Memorial Park in Big Rock, Virginia.

Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Inc., of Elkhorn City.
