PATRICK'S DAY celebrations are widespread today, both within party circles and among regularly scheduled club meetings. Miss Martha Hammerschmidt, 1101 Riverside drive, will entertain members of the Kappa Kappa Gamma alumnae group at an informal get-together tonight in her home. Her father, Louis M. The corps heard a report of the presentation of 189 small American flags and pledge cards the new citizens at the naturalization program Sunday afternoon in the John Adams High school. Cora J. Myers as cochairmen and there will be sewing for the Red Cross from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m.

ROSTISER. This recipe is for cookies and is from the nutrition classes and one source of vitamins for our rationed diet. Wheat Germ Cookies. One cup shortening. One cup sugar.

Two beaten eggs. Two and one-fourth cups sifted flour. Two to three tablespoons milk. One-half teaspoon salt. Three teaspoons baking powder.

Three-fourths cup wheat germ meal. One teaspoon vanilla. One-half cup nuts, or raisins or chocolate chips, optional. Cream shortening, add sugar, then eggs. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.

Combine. Add wheat germ meal and vanilla. Add nuts, raisins or chocolate, if used. Drop by spoonfuls on greased baking sheet. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees).
